Role Summary:The Mechanical Field Service Technician troubleshoots and repairs Flowserve’s pumps and equipment for our customers in industries such as oil and gas, chemical, nuclear, coal, and waste water industries. This position requires an experienced technician who can provide confident expertise in the face of operational problems. The Field Service Technician will repair and install equipment, oversee start-up, conduct maintenance, and monitor the performance of products at our customers’ locations. While the technician may be the only Flowserve representative on site, they can call upon the resources of Flowserve’s Field Service Team to ensure that our products are operating at peak performance. The position is on-the road most of the time, and is organizationally based in the global Quick Response Centre (QRC) network. Responsibilities & Requirements: Your responsibilities will be: Actively support a positive SHEA culture to reduce lost time injuries and recordable accident frequency rate and maintain a safe hazard free work environment.Make direct, in-person service calls in response to customer requests.Assess mechanical problems and take actions to resolve promptlyOversee the full cycle of repair: disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, and assembly.Ensure that equipment is installed successfully and on schedule.Check equipment prior to start-up and assess start-up performanceWork side-by-side with our customer’s personnel, and lead work crews as required.Monitor the maintenance and performance of Flowserve equipment.Train customers in the proper procedures for operating and maintaining Flowserve products.Identify field service sales opportunities for sales to follow up, quote and presentation to the customer.Collaborate with Flowserve Sales Engineers to ensure a coordinated approach to serving our customersCollaborate effectively with the supporting organizations of Flowserve, including the repair centers, customer service, and sales. What do you need for this job: 5 years of experience in mechanical and related engineering and a desire to work in field service, specifically to satisfy customer requirements.Skilled in the repair of large, high-end, single-stage and multi-stage pumps; laser alignment, rigging, and pump seals.Fluent in EnglishExperienced in removing and installing pump bases (epoxy grout, including pressure grout).Knowledgeable about the industrial applications and operations of pumps.Must be a self-starter with good follow-through, capable of working independently with little supervision.Able to explain mechanical problems, and articulate the thinking behind recommendations. Preferred Experience / Skills: Capable in Outlook, Word and Excel.Communicate effectively and professionally both orally and in writing.Must be able to travel 90% of the time with frequent overnight stays as required.Must have an active driver’s license with a good driving record and be able to pass a DOT physical; will drive company truck.Physical activity is required, including lifting up to 50 pounds, ascending/descending ladders and staircases, and climbing in, under, and around large equipment.
